. PRODUCTION COMPANY LOGO

This was a physical design of the production company logo that we created. The logo is extremely creative, and effectively represents our production companies name 'CUT THROAT'. The appearance of the logo complements the production companies title, as the blood appears to seep out as if it is coming out of a cut. As you can see this logo used iconography from the Horror genre , the blood signifies death and also danger. With this iconography the correlation between the genre of film and the Production company is clear. This is a fictional production company that I came up with to make the trailer seem more realistic to the audience members.

The logo also includes scissors on each letter, this use of iconography is very well though out. This is a detail that can be viewed as a convention of the Horror genre because and shows close links between our trailer and the use of violence along with the Production Company

. PRODUCTION COMPANY LOGO EDITED

This logo was created using text from dafont.com. I chose this particular text because of it's horror related imagery that related closely to the genre. I simply print screened the text from the website (dafont.com) into Photoshop and used the tools such as the 'magnetic want tool' , and 'rectangular tool' to cut around the text and changed the colour of the text as well using a septerate layer to recreate the text however this time in the colour white to add a white shadow. When editing this piece, I added a 'fade in' effect on Adobe Premier, as I wanted the text to appear as though it was created for the titles of a 1950's horror movie , the slow movement of the text allows the audience to take in the text, but also connote the productions affiliations with the Horror genre.

When changing the front text to red, I sampled the colour from an official Horror production company, however I did brighten the red to make it a more accurate 'blood-like colour.

. REASONS FOR CASTING

Dawn is playing the villain because of the experience she has from starring in our preliminary trailer and also our initial narritive, there she played a villain also. She has the ability to portray a character with violent characteristics well. Because of her experience with make-up in general, it wasn't hard for her to then apply her knowledge to the corpse inspired 'gory' make-up. Dawn took the initiative to even go to a party shop for the supplies that would ensure the look was perfect, for the few elements of the look she could not do she relied on tutorials and a friend who was able to ensure the wounds on her face looked realistic. As a group we knew that the role of Lillith had to be played by someone who could not only look the pat but play the part,  and it did help that Dawn had been watching make-up tutorials for years so it was better having someone who could easily follow directions on how to apply make-up and had experience of doing so. She even filmed herself putting on the make-up and edited in i-Movie as a time lapse.

Casting someone who could successfully portray the character of Lillith was important, we were able to cast Dawn because as I said before we have seen her execute a similar role previously. She is also in the group that I'm working in and she had the most appropriate timetable to then allow her film, especially when we all had the same free periods. It would've been harder to cast someone else as filming would revolve around their schedule and it may not be the same as ours.

With the make-up on, Dawn is able to look scary and because she has long hair we were able to change or conceal her identity if necessary. We needed someone who we could easily access and Dawn was easy because she does Media and is in the same group as us.

I was chosen to star in the trailer as Riley, the group originally had another person in mind but they were unavailable to film due to prior engagements with another subject. I had experience of acting in a previous AS music video, even though this role was very different I knew I was capable of successfully portraying the character of Riley. I followed the instructions of the group closely, ensuring I depicted the character appropriately and luckily the group were content with my choice of wardrobe. I naturally wear a lot of black, therefore connotations could be made that I was the villain due to the unconventional use of colours in my wardrobe. However as the trailer goes on you can see that I am in fact the victim and even though Dawn is seen wearing white, this is an example of Barthes 'binary opposition'.
